Well, it WOULD be consistent with legal abortion…
Soon you’ll see prochoicers marching for infanticide.

Archery
I’m definitely getting better - two guys from my church gave me some pointers yesterday that helped a bunch - but I just had my first string-slap. Apparently, I need a larger arm-guard.
I did, however, put an arrow straight through the dummy-deer’s neck. And overall accuracy is improving a lot.

I can definitely agree with this. I think there should also be more incentives for private space exploration companies like Virgin Galactic.

Grace in Guilt →
Guilt is a gift, a form of God’s grace to expose me to my true self and force me to take seriously my sin, whether it’s a lashing tongue, a lustful thought or a lingering pride. God wants to break through my distractions, pull off my rose-colored glasses and show me the truth about myself and my future. The festering guilt can function for good, turning me to see my state before a...

I don't have what it takes.
I am not enough. I don’t have the strength. I’m not worthy.
But God is.
If he can work through me, as broken and flawed and sinful, as arrogant and hard-headed and stiff-necked as I am… if he can work through me…
Then I am enough. And I do have what it takes. And I am worthy.
Not because of who I am, but because of who he is.

Siggy Batteries →
Unfortunately, people sometimes have the same problem as iPods; their emotional/psychological batteries will not hold a charge for long. They are all charged up one day, and completely drained the next, or maybe even later that same day. Such people are always looking for approval and significance from others. I’ve seen this problem in college students and most especially in high school...

The Trap of Enmeshment →
This article explains so perfectly why I object to the majority of modern teen (and sometimes adult) dating relationships.
Because, quite simply: you don’t know who you are.

The Pill Is Not Good for Women →
The recent Health and Human Services mandate and the ensuing debate appear to have pitted religious-liberty claims against women’s health. But because religious leaders (rightly) focused on the need for a religious exemption, it may appear to some observers that they are unable to articulate a reasoned and weighty response to the administration’s claim that contraceptives are essential to...

tbdphoto replied to your post: I must have a “hire me, I’m a good guy” kind of face.
Maybe it’s God working… :) But was it a good job offer?
Not quite sure - it’s some sort of internet commerce thing. A co-worker mentioned it to me, so I’ll have to get a few more details before I know if it’s something I want to do.

I’m a youth leader because it’s what God asked me to do.
And when God asks us to do something, we don’t complain or throw a fit or whine about how it’s not something we enjoy. We just do it, to the best of our ability, relying heavily on him to take our efforts and bring them to fruition, until he says it’s time to stop.

First Day at Ruby Tuesday: Orientation
Went well - basic paperwork, walk-around, introductions. GM seems a good guy.
It’s a lot more structured than I’m used to, but I should be able to adapt fairly quickly. Basic concept is the same (“memorable customer experience”).
Tomorrow morning is first day of training; sounds like I’m training as a server and bartender.
My only concern is the 35-minute commute;...

Carrie woke on her sixth birthday to the sound of singing.
She knew instantly that it was her birthday, her very own day. She opened her eyes to discover that balloons had been tied all around her bed—a colorful canopy. The celebration had begun. Her mom was standing by her bedside, holding a coffee cake with a lit candle in it, and her dad was there, too, and both of them were singing,...

The Sunflower Project
Tomorrow is the first event for The Sunflower Project. And I’m a little nervous.
The Sunflower Project is the ministry of the Contenders, the youth group I co-lead. TSP is about bringing a little ray of comfort and compassion into the lives of families whose children are going through illness. We make various crafts - candles, tie-blankets, scarves, and (in the future) wood-based crafts...
